For our first Breakfast Network Meeting of 2020, our chamber members met at the Community Room in Safeway Sherwood Park Mall. Manager Dave spoke with our members about Safeway’s design initiatives and how Safeway strives to be a pillar in our community.
Although Dave is new to this Safeway location, he has worked at 17 different Safeway locations over the past 40 years. Growing up in rural Alberta, he wants to maintain that small-town feel and engage in community building. He strongly believes in building an inclusive workplace and hiring people with disabilities. He also believes it is important to join and participate in community organizations like your local Chamber of Commerce.
Inspired by European and Oceanian models, this unique Safeway location focuses on providing fresh food for better living and a better lifestyle. The Safeway at Sherwood Park Mall was designed around the “CABFM” principle: Creating A Better Food Market. This Safeway offers a salad bar, a hot carvery station, great to-go options, a Starbucks, and a wellbeing and natural source department.
This Safeway also has a Community Room that is available to be booked at no cost. If you are interested in utilizing this great space, please contact Dave for availability. Dave wants to increase the use of this communal space and has started some creative initiatives like hosting mini-concerts each month, featuring local artists.
Members had a great time networking and enjoying the excellent breakfast provided by Safeway Canada.
