Dear Chamber Members,
My tenure as President of the Chamber has been an enriching experience. I can report to you that the Chamber Board and staff are working diligently to offer practical member benefits, services, top quality events and advocacy on your behalf in these challenging times.
On behalf of the membership, we are currently working on federal and provincial policy resolutions to submit to the Alberta Chambers of Commerce and Canadian Chamber of Commerce for debate at both Annual General Meetings in 2020. Currently, we are working to support an important Albertan economic opportunity in lithium mining at the federal level, and we continue to be engaged in red tape reduction municipally.
We are working on many other events such as our annual Curling Funspiel on February 7, the International Women’s Day Luncheon on March 18, and the Great Canadian Trade Fair & Sale, which will be held at Millennium Place April 17-19, 2020.
Our regularly scheduled events such as Breakfast Network Meetings, Luncheons, and After Hours Business Mixers have all been well attended and have featured many informative speakers.
The 2020 Chamber Connection publication is now completed and will be mailed out to all our members by mid-January and also distributed to residents within Strathcona County. This publication is an excellent asset to our community, and we encourage everyone to take advantage of the member businesses for their goods and service needs. As promised, we have continued the “Shop Local, Shop Sherwood Park” program and have had a great response from the public. This awareness campaign encourages residents to shop locally, allowing you to grow your business, which in turn allows you the opportunity to give back to the community.
As members of the Chamber of Commerce, I would like to invite each and everyone one of you to participate in the many networking opportunities that allow you to get better to know your Chamber membership and the benefits we offer to help your business to succeed. If you explore our website you will see all the opportunities we have to provide you. Please feel free to contact the Chamber of Commerce for any questions or suggestions you may have.
As the holiday season closes, I would like to wish our membership all the best in your personal and business endeavours for 2020.
Sincerely,
Cathy Olesen
Sherwood Park & District Chamber of Commerce President
